Come join us as we celebrate America's 250th birthday with a selection of patriotic classics. The concert will feature many of the band's favorites, from John Philip Sousa's "Washington Post March" and "The Thunderer," to Carmen Dragon's beloved rendition of "America the Beautiful." That performance will feature one of our favorite recurring guest singers, Hope Kesling-Milthaler. The band is proud to celebrate America250 and will honor veterans with a performance of "Armed Forces on Parade," which includes the music of several branches. Many other selections include famous classic American Revolutionary War ditties and arrangements which give those tunes new and interesting life.
This concert is presented in collaboration with Dayton's Richard Montgomery Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. They will present the colors and play some fife and drum music at the beginning of the concert as well as during intermission. They will fly the Grand Union Flag and a modified "Betsy Ross" flag. Their fife and drum music is authentic to the 18th century. Their membership includes some of our own members!
This is a concert you won't want to miss! It is free and family-friendly. Seating is general admission but be sure to bring lawn chairs, blankets, etc. Convenient parking is available in the Polen Farm North lot or the adjacent Kennedy Park, while the limited parking spaces in the Polen Farm main drive are reserved for those needing to minimize their walking distance.
